Visitors and Holidays
hooray! 4th aunt is coming for a holiday in June. Now that we know what her idea of hospitality is like, we can show her some HK-style. Dulwich and Fiance are also popping by at around the same time. After a dearth, a plethora.
Apart from Beijing next week and Kyoto in June, we are also planning a MITH offsite somewhere in France (I have no geography - France, for me, consists of Paris; and everywhere else) with the Merde Alors.

Ooh! I love France! Can I be in your offsite?
alright, but you have to bring along a powerpoint presentation on any aspect of Gallic culture and I warn you that there will be many practical workgroup sessions, in which full delegation participation is expected.
Dearth? Does my many weeks of scrounging off your hospitality, watching back episodes of 24 and regularly raiding the fridge, count for naught?! I fear I'm been filed in the out tray of your acquaintances ...
no, you were upgraded, like a carpark, from status of visitor to long-stay - a bit like the mould that I found in our Robertson's strawberry jamjar this morning.
Hmm. Remind me to return the compliment when you descend en masse to our humble abode
Is there room for us all? Do we need to check into a hotel?
I expect she didn't mean the blisters when she said en masse, Bobs.
Phiz, I'm working away on my powerpoint - Wine and the whining winers who make it - waddayathink?
Maybe I could be the off-site yoga teacher?
certainly, Bobs, you overlap with 4 Ee by one day only, on which day you will find yourself on our sofas
Blisters welcome too. Plenty of room in the cowshed for all.
I think I gave the wrong dates. We actually overlap by two days cos we arrive evening 6th and leave 9th. Do you want to consult with LSS if it will drive him round the bend having all descend? We really don't mind hotelling it.
Bobs, no, it's entirely fine with us. On the other hand, if you want to try out one of these exciting little boutique hotels that are springing up, for 6th and 7th, that is fine with us as well.
DG, onsite yoga instruction! I like it!
Do you mean the Eden, Phiz?
Ooh, what exciting little boutique hotels are these?
well there's www.jiahongkong.com (Starck designed), www.theluxemanor.com (in TST, HKD1000 special offer),Hotel LKF (www.rhombushotels.com/hotels_LKF.shtml)...
Oops I got it wrong again. We're actually in HK from 5th June for 4 nights. Will check out the hotels, I think. Thank you for the tips.
No probs. Ignore Fumie's suggestion - he only knows the sleazy joints.
there is always the TST YMCA which is cheap and pleasant and like a regular hotel (don't worry, you don't have to sleep in a dorm), gives you a nice view of the Peninsula and a dazzling view of HK island, and has a climbing wall too.
We stayed at the YWCA by the zoo - great location to Central and cheap (and they have a pool). The Bishop Lei does great rates, too, and that's right on top of Soho.
We booked into Jia cause they're doing a special offer. The room has a kitchen and everything and is bigger than our flat!
OMG - we'll go and stay in it and you can sleep in our flat!
